We were staying in Paris but wanted to have an opportunity to see Normandy beach up close and experience other parts of importance related to the war. Franck was wonderful from the first email suggesting what parts we should see on a short visit and helped us figure out what train to take.
He waited for us at the train and had a comfortable large van for us to travel in. His knowledge of Caen and the beach was incredible. We were quite emotional throughout the day. He even picked a perfect place for lunch. Overall, I would highly recommend especially if you only have one day to experience one of the most important places in history.

Hiring Franck for the day optimized our time and most importantly, our experience. He holds a wealth of knowledge over the Normandy invasion along with the landscape there. His English was solid and articulation as well. We ended at the American Cemetery which is a very experience. Totally enjoyed the tour.

We had the best day with Franck! I’m a former US Army Paratrooper and have always wanted to see where my paratrooper granddads did the amazing things they did.
I learned so much, Franck was enjoyable and very knowledgeable about the battles and locations. It was amazing to see where the LGOPs did their best.

For Americans visiting France, it's hard to imagine a more stimulating or emotional experience than a tour of the beaches and other landmarks along the Normandy coast where the Allies landed in June 1944. It is impossible to walk dry-eyed among the crosses in the immaculate American cemetery above Omaha Beach, or to stand at the top of Pointe du Hoc except in awe at the bravery and audacity of the scale of the entire risky venture.
That has been especially true this year, as the 80th anniversary will be the last with attending survivors of the invasion - for which they were well represented during the first week of June, and fully celebrated by political and military leaders as well as hordes of tourists.
As it would be at any time but especially this year, support by a knowledgeable local expert was key to maximizing the available breadth of a visit. For us as two couples, our guide and driver Franck was superb.
Two points byway of strategic planning: First, for those who can, book a group or family tour on a private basis, as we did for for the four of us - you'll avoid multi-party distractions, be much more efficient, and therefore get to see much more. Also while the tours are typically in 9-passenger vans, a smaller group makes for that much more comfort in travel and effectiveness in communication with your guide. (In other years we've gone as small as a group of three.)
Second, be ready to discuss and plan your priorities with your guide in advance. As all of us in our group had made at least one prior visit to the key landmarks, we explored with Franck the opportunities to visit sites that are ordinarily not on a regular agenda. So, for example, we spent some extra time walking the "bocage," the famous and notorious hedgerows, and visiting the small and obscure memorial for the soldiers and crew of a glider that crash landed with 100% fatalities.
Beyond that - it will be a full day - wear comfortable shoes - and be prepared to be moved.

We took the tour of the airborne drop zones and Utah Beach and what a great day it was. Franck took us to every place I expected and some I did not expect, like the church at Angoville-au-Plain and the La Fiere bridge . I am a Vietnam veteran of the 101st Airborne and have always wanted to see where the division won it's glorious reputation and we could not have had a better experience.
Franck was exceptional. He took us to many of the places that I wanted to see and then then he took us to places that I did not know about but really needed to see to round out the experience. I am a veteran of the 101st Airborne, 67-69, and encourage all 101st veterans to take this tour. Cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed it and how educational it was.

An incredible day! Franck was an incredible guide. He had a deep and broad understanding of the events on and the weeks and months following D-Day. Many guides can recite the facts and numbers associated with historical events, but Franck’s gift for story-telling also brought to life the emotions surrounding the landings. He brought into sharp focus the contrasts between the serene beauty of Omaha and the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc today, and the horrors they witnessed 80 years ago. For me, it was a day filled with awe, sorrow, respect, and appreciation for those who sacrificed so much for us. It was a roller coaster ride, but one we should all take; and if you do go, I highly recommend Memory-Tracks for your visit.

Who hasn't read of D Day, and the heroic activities of the Allied forces who turned around the war against Naziism? Franck brought the stories to life with our visit on Memorial Day 80 years later. He's a really good guide and interpreter - I would love to return and take another of his tours.

You can’t go wrong booking this tour. Frank is knowledgeable, patient and charming. His English is perfect and the van was comfortable. He knew the best viewing points and was able to be flexible in the face of unforeseen closures. At our request, he booked a great place for lunch. He shared his family’s experiences during the war. He has important photos to bring things to focus. Bottom line: we’d take any guided tour with Frank and gladly recommend him.

My husband and I traveled to Normandy as a trip we had always wanted to do. It was far more than we expected, and we credit our excellent experience to our guide Franck of Memory Tracks. He was exceptional! Franck was professional, personable, extremely knowledgeable, and very engaging. Sharing information with us to make
D Day events as real as possible was his goal which he achieved in every way. He even knew back roads and overlooks that could only be known to local guides who desired to go the extra mile for their clients. We had a great day out with Franck, he is an extremely knowledgeable man on all things D Day & Normandy & makes the tour a very interesting experience as well as a learning experience for even those who already have a good knowledge of D Day history. The vehicle we travelled in was very comfortable (8 seater van) plenty of room for just the two of us and nice & warm as it was a very cold day.
I would thoroughly recommend Franck & Memory Tracks to anyone who is thinking of going to Normandy & doing a D Day private tour.

Unser Ausflug übertraf alle unsere Erwartungen. Franck, unser Guide und Fahrer hat ein unglaubliches Wissen über die Landung der Alliierten in der Normandie. Man bekommt eine Vorstellung was vor ungefähr 80 Jahren auf diesem Strand in der Normandie passiert ist. Es war ein beeindruckender Tag .
